The HeatDDR Consortium members gathered on December 2nd – 3rd, 2025 for the official project’s kick-off meeting, which was hosted by the iFZ Research Center of the Justus Liebig University in Gießen (Germany).

Over the two days, the doctoral researchers who had recently started in their labs and their supervisors engaged in enriching scientific discussions and informal exchanges. The students brilliantly presented their projects and took part in lively discussions, which were useful to adjust and improve future research plans.

Time was dedicated to social activities. All participants interacted during coffee breaks and lunches, and a dinner was organized at a local restaurant. In addition, the students spent time together exploring the town.
Finally, a Supervisory Board meeting was held, allowing the supervisors to align on future objectives and finalize the organization of the next workshop, which will focus on cutting-edge imaging techniques.
Overall, this meeting provided a good start to the HeatDDR project, allowing the participants to connect and exchange, and set the stage for four years of exciting research ahead.
